I started Isle of Wight Beauty in 2007 when I moved back to the Island after working away for 13 years. I left home at 16 years old to attend aprivate dance school in London. After graduating at the age of 18, I started working as a make up and skin care consultant so that I could pay my rent to go to auditions in the West End. I worked as a makeup artist for many cosmetic lines during this time for companies such as Harvey Nichols, Selfridges and John Lewis. I worked as a singer/dancer in the entertainment industry for several years before starting work as a full time makeup artist for Laura Mercier in Vancouver in 2004. I have always loved working in the beauty industry and I knew this was going to be my next career path following my dance career.
I was born on the Isle of Wight, and after all the travelling I have done, I can honestly say the Island is a gorgeous place to live. The Island will always feel like home and remains a big part of me. I moved back to the Island to be closer to my family, and because I had a desire to start a family of my own.
I had been living and working in Vancouver Canada as a makeup artist for Laura Mercier in the years before returning to the Island. I gained invaluable experiences working with some of the best international make up artists while with Laura Mercier. The one development was Michel Coulombe, one of Laura Mercier’s top international artists.
The Isle of Wight is such aunique place to have wedding business; the Island we live on is such a wonderful location to get married. Many of my brides from the past years have had little or no connection to the Isle of Wight, but see it as a lovely venue to get married. The main benefit for me is that I can be a full time mum, and still run a successful business while working my hours around my two lovely children.
I am one of the Island’s leading wedding specialists in bridal hair and makeup. I am based in Newport but travel Island wide. I also offer pamper parties on an evening before the wedding, for the bridal party to get together for some pampering before the big day.
I am a trained mobile beautician, so I can offer many services for any occasions such as gel nail extensions, facials, waxing, makeup lessons, makeup parties, eyelash extensions, and eye treatments such as tinting, perm, and shaping. I provide the hair and makeup for photo shoots, proms and formal events, as well as providing a range of customised hair accessories through my other website Preciouspins.co.uk
In February 2013 I will be attending a professional artist course in London for Vintage artistry, learning styles from the 1920s to the 1960s; this will be something new that I am offering this year as there is increased demand for vintage hair and makeup. I have other courses planned in the months ahead in hair styling as well, to ensure I can continue to provide my clients with the range of styles they desire.
I love being able to be a part of such a special time in a person’s life. I feel very lucky that I can go to work and love what I am about to do for the day. The feedback I frequently receive from my brides is that I have a calming presence, and they are content for me to be around on the morning of their wedding, which is a lovely compliment
l use top quality make up products including Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, Stilla and Giorgio Armani cosmetics.
I feel that the beauty industry has allowed me to explore my creative and artistic talents. Working with some of the best international artists, I have gained world class training and experiences. I has a great passion for beauty, I loves the feeling she gets making another person look and feel their absolute best.
